What’s one thing you know now that would have saved your younger self a lot of pain?
The incarnation,
touches a soul to the world;
a world full of pain.
Pain is good. It is written in Maria Faustina Kowalska’s diary, that if angels were capable of envy, they would envy mankind for two things; The Holy Eucharist, and suffering. Pain is good.
Those who strive to make themselves comfortable, these are the ones who bring suffering and pain upon others. Instead of carrying their cross, they place it upon another human soul, and give that man, that woman, or that child, two crosses to bear. And so, that soul by carrying two crosses, is doubly blessed in Heaven; while the one who took only comfort, this soul inherits and eternal pain and suffering in Hell.
This is wisdom.
It is spoken of best in the parable of Lazarus and the rich man. The one who fills his belly, and the one who sits outside, begging for a scrap of bread. This is Maria’s Magnificat, which says, “He fills the hungry with good things, while the rich He sends empty away.”
Comfort is the aversion to pain and suffering, and leads ever towards a greater discomfort in eternity; while those who embrace their pain, these have found comfort even in their worst of miseries.
This is wisdom.
They so often pray, “God, take away my cross,” instead of praying, “God, help me bear my cross.” They cast off Jesus and embrace the world.
